About
Meet Deanna Hansen.
Deanna Hansen is a Certified Athletic Therapist, an author, and the founder of Fluid Isometrics™ and Block Therapy™ — a self-care practice that is bodywork, exercise and meditation in one. She has worked with the body since 1995 and lives in Winnipeg, Canada.

Her story
It started with her own body.
Deanna began practising as an Athletic Therapist in 1995, drawn from the start to deep tissue work. Her practice thrived. Her own health didn’t — she was living with chronic pain and felt weighed down by anxiety and depression.
In 2000, during the worst of a series of anxiety attacks, she instinctively pressed her hand deep into her abdomen. Something shifted. She kept exploring, and in a short time her body began to change: the chronic pain eased, and the anxiety and depression lifted. She brought what she was learning straight to her patients.
She called the hands-on technique Fluid Isometrics™ and practised it in her own clinics for another fourteen years. By 2006, word had spread far enough that she began teaching other therapists — and finding words for something her hands had worked out long before.
What Deanna cares about most is teaching people to look after themselves. Block Therapy™ is how she does it: the treatment-room technique translated into a practice anyone can do at home, lying over a handcrafted cedar block called the Block Buddy™ and breathing deeply. Today she trains and certifies Block Therapy instructors around the world.
